IS OFFICIALLY PRESENTED
AT THE CONGRESS OF THE REPUBLIC

After the international promotional campaign of the INTERNATIONAL TOURISM FAIR IN PERU “FITPERU 2007” ended in China, the Fair was officially presented today at 7:00 p.m. with an audience of 200 invitees in the Raúl Porras Barrenechea Room at the Congress of the Republic.  In this way, an opportunity to expand the participation of presenters was opened up.

The presentation table was headed by Congresswoman Cecilia Charcón, as the President of the Tourism Commission, Dr. Francisco Belaunde, National Tourism Director, D. Roberto Angulo, President of Caretur, and D. Jaime Rull, the Executive President of FITPERU and of HoritzoGrup, the entity that organized this event.

The presentation included an exposition on the work that has been done during the first part of the year and the fair’s objectives and goals, as well as a thorough explanation of its content.  It ended with a video-production that outlines this edition of FITPERU 2007, which will take place from November 3 to 6 in the colonial city of Trujillo.

The audience, amongst which were main representatives from the tourism sector in all of its diverse expressions: Operators, Travel Agencies, Hotels, Airlines, Restaurants and others, applauded the initiative that Caretur took to encourage the development of tourism in the Northern Amazon region and linking it to all the tourism circuits in the country.  Mr. Rull made a point that FITPERU is a fair for the whole country in which all of the efforts that the private sector have made can converge and come together in one spot with support from: CANATUR, ADAVIT, AHORA, APAVIT, APOTUR, ASOTUR, CTN PERÚ, as well as the MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND TOURISM, the MINISTRY OF FOREIGN RELATIONS, and THE REGIONAL AND CITY GOVERNMENT from the public sector.  To this, UNIVERSITIES and various businesses have taken part in order to consolidate this international event, and, in this way, fill a void that existed up until today in Peru.

The exposition, which took approximately one hour, included diverse interventions and questions, making it a complete interactive forum.  It was noted that this fair will fill a void that existed up until now in Peru, with national and international participation divided into the following segments:

  1. Fair-Exposition with Stands from Peru
  2. Fair-Exposition with Stands from diverse Countries
  3. Business Meetings (supply and demand with agenda)
  4. Academic Activities (forums, seminars, conferences, round tables)
  5. Gastronomic Festival
  6. International Folklore Festival
  7. Familiarization trips throughout the country for foreign operators
  8. Familiarization trips throughout the country for the international press
The act ended with an invitation for all businesspeople and entities to participate actively in the fair.
