THE LAMBAYEQUE REGION
WILL PRESENT CULTURE AND ITS ATTRACTIONS AT
FITPERÚ 2007
Replicas of the Sipán y Sicán cultures, treasures from the Pómac Forest Historic Sanctuary, the Túcume Pyramids, craft samples and a part of lambayecan gastronomy will be presented from November 3 to 6 in the first International Tourism Fair in Peru, FITPERU 2007, which will take place in Trujillo.
The regional president, Yehude Simon Munaro, notified all this at the end of a meeting that took place in the Chiclayo central hotel with the FITPERU organizing committee, representatives from the Regional Government, agents from the private sector, the Hotel and Restaurant Association, and others who work in tourism.
Simon Munaro indicated that Lambayeque will have a stand where they will present their tourism offer to international and national operators who attend this event. He also mentioned that negotiations with the regional governments of Tumbes, Piura, Cajamarca and Amazonas have commenced. In this way, the main tourism attractions of the country’s northern section will be presented in one common space and in a consolidated way that allows the visitor to have access to the best offer.
He further commented that “The people who attend FITPERÚ must become know the wealth that exists in the north. Peru is not just Machupicchu, it is also Lambayeque and the other regions that make up the northern part of the country, where there is significant potential for tourism.”
He was referring to the fact that the authorities in the southern part of Ecuador and the northern part of Peru agreed to promote integration and complementary offers for tourists in an effort to strengthen tourism in northern Peru.
Likewise, Yehude Simon went ahead and requested that Chiclayo be the next headquarters for the second version of the International Tourism Fair in Peru. The lambayecan governer said, “Lambayeque would be more recognized if we can hold FITPERU again in 2008. Ministers and business people would also have to participate in the Asian Pacific Economic Forum in August of next year.”
The people who attended this meeting were: Jaime Rull, the executive president of FITPERU, Rubén Ríos Asalde, the general manager of the Regional Government, Rosa Meléndez Malatesta, the manager of Economic Development, Edgar Dante Saavedra, the regional Tourism director and representatives of the region’s public and private sector.
It is fitting to mention that there will be a fair-exposition with stands from Peru and other countries, a business meeting, forums, conferences, round tables, a food festival and a folklore festival, amongst other things.
